Metric screws diameter
The fastest way to determine the screw diameter is to use a caliper gauge as shown in the picture on the left. For this purpose, the caliper gauge is placed parallel to the screw. In the example on the left, the screw diameter of an M8 screw is measured.
In the table below you will find all common screw diameters from M1 to M64 and the through hole sizes. A through hole is a hole through a workpiece through which a screw is passed. A distinction is made here between "fine", "medium" and "coarse". If possible, "coarse" should be selected, as this compensates for any manufacturing errors and makes assembly easier.
