The wrench sizes of hexagon socket screws have different wrench sizes due to the different screw heads (e.g. cylinder head, countersunk head, lens head,...) with the same thread size. Special care must be taken with screw dimensions below M3. Here it comes frequently to mix-ups and thus to the use of too small hexagon socket wrenches which can easily lead to damage of the hexagon socket.
